Does Cobra work if we’re already using a system from the pipe mill or a third-party tracking vendor?

Yes - and it’s actually one of the main reasons teams adopt Cobra. Mill-provided systems and third-party vendor tools track data from their perspective. Cobra gives your team an independent record that you control - so when quantities are disputed or billing is questioned, you have your own verified data that doesn’t depend on anyone else’s system. Most teams run Cobra alongside existing vendor tools, not instead of them.

What are the seven supply chain stages Cobra tracks?

Cobra tracks each joint from the moment it’s rolled at the mill through: coating at the coating facility, loading and rail shipment, offloading at the rail spur, yard storage and staging, truck loading with bill of lading, and final delivery to the right-of-way for stringing. Every stage is timestamped and tied to the joint’s unique identifier - giving you a complete chain of custody from manufactured heat number to installed location.

How does the pipe length calculator work?

Cobra integrates with Arpium to pull the current proposed centerline and any reviewed MOCs. From that spatial data, it calculates the actual pipe lengths required for each section of the project. As the centerline evolves and change orders are approved, the calculator updates - so your ordering quantities are always based on the current scope of work, not an estimate made at the start of the project.
